There are few rides during January that can get you close to 400 miles in 3 days. La Vuelta Puerto Rico delivers with tropical temperatures, perfectly planned days, a friendly atmosphere and miles that go straight to your quads...

If you missed it this year, make sure to get it on your schedule for next year. The early season fitness boost is great and you'll come home with a ton of stories and a great winter tan. The hardest part will be to ride during the cold days when you've been spoiled by 80° weather.

That said, training for Total 200 can seem challenging and doing long back to back rides is a good way to prepare. So whether you can get away or not make sure to work in some weekends with long rides on both days. Doing a 100/100 or a 110/75 will go a long way to get you ready. Of course base miles during your regular training are always good so don't let those 20 or 30 milers drop off your schedule. Consistency is also important. If you'd like to train with other participants go ahead and use our Facebook page to connect with others in your area.

Did I mention the coconut rum drinks at the end of short day (95 miles) at La Vuelta? You might not find that around here, but I'm sure you can come up with your own reward for a long day in the saddle. See you all out there training.
