We’ve sent this email out to all our participants but just in case that got lost through the cracks- here it is again. We wanted to let you know we’ll be posting the participant guide soon, but much of that information is on our website. Maps, cut-off times, logistics, support, etc.
Get your Bike Ready - Make it a Smooth Day
Please make sure that your bike is tuned up prior to the ride. Hopefully you’ve been loggin a bunch of miles lately, so make sure your bike and gear can go the distance too. New tires, tubes and a tune up can make a huge difference on June 25th. Checking your cleats, cables and flat repair kit is not a bad idea either. Our sponsor Arrow Bicycle has a great service department!
Pace Groups and Pacing to Finish!
We highly recommend working in groups and pacing yourself appropriately in order to enjoy the ride. We encourage you to use our Facebook "Discussions" section to meet other riders and plan for your desired pace. We will also stage riders by ride pace (mph) at the start of the event so you can find a group that fits your goal. Remember that if you feel like you’re going too hard at mile 20, then you really are.
200 miles VS. 200 kilometers
We’ve been getting some questions about switching from the 200 mile to the 200 K and where they overlap. Here’s the deal: If possible we’d like to know who is riding which course at least a week before the event. That allows us to better support each ride. The first 58 miles are on the same before the two rides split. They converge at the last 46 miles to the finish together again. View map for details »
Ride-share to/from the Event
We have riders from out of town staying at the Capitol Skyline Hotel, near the US Capitol and about 3 miles from the start. If you’d like to volunteer to offer a ride to/from the event I’m sure they be very appreciative! Just send us an email and let us know you’d help out. Remember, good karma helps when you do long rides.
Volunteers: Friends and Family
If you know of someone that wants to volunteer please send them directly to the volunteer form. We’ll contact then about their preferences and how to best schedule them. We have opportunities for pre-ride, check points, post ride, etc. We also have great giveaways to raffle off. http://www.total200.com/Volunteers
